Kollam: Health Minister Veena George has said that an administrative sanction of Rs 22,91,67,000 has been given for the development of Kollam Medical College. The funds have been sanctioned for various state-of-the-art equipment and hospital supplies to accelerate the ongoing development work in the medical college. The Health Minister said that the government is giving great importance to the development of Kollam Medical College.
Kollam Medical College has been allotted a nursing college. Steps have been taken to start classes this year itself. For the first time, a PG course was started at Kollam Medical College. State-of-the-art medical facilities, including a cath lab, have been made operational. After completing the first batch of MBBS, house surgery was started. The minister also said that the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved the admission of ABBS students for the year 2022-23.
