The Interior Ministry has announced a ban on visitor visas to Qatar during the World Cup. Officials said visitor visas, including on-arrival, will not be allowed from November 1 to December 23. During the World Cup, fans will be allowed entry into Qatar through Haycard. It is estimated that around 15 lakh football fans will be visited.
However, after December 23, entry through visitor visas will be normal, officials said. Hayya cardholders, who will be allowed entry into the country from November 1, can stay in Qatar for more than a month after the World Cup. They will have to return by January 23, 2023.
Meanwhile, Qatari nationals, residents and GCC citizens with Qatar ID will be allowed entry into the country without a Hayya card during the World Cup. There are no barriers to entry for those arriving on a work permit and individual recruitment visa. Those who are approved through the official platform on the basis of special humanitarian considerations will also be allowed entry into the country during this period.
